Dreamhours
is to some extent holy ground for me. Not in the sense
that I value my own work, but the process of creating
fills a void that any religion or esoteric views has
failed to do. Seeing the wonders of nature and trying
to capture some of its atmosphere is a life endevourment
for me. In that aspect, some of my work is closely
linked with the romantic spirit of the nintieenth
century, but I'm also very fond of the early modernist
movements, like the symbolists of France and the expressionist
in Germany. I could keep on mentioning things that
has made a world of difference to me, but I'm satisfied
in naming some of them in the inspirattion section
of this site.
Dreamhours is focused on the visible, the tangible,
but only to a certain extent. What I'm really trying
to portray are the things that describe the inner
reality; a mysterious and obscure, deep and enticing
reality. That which you rather have to feel, than
try to describe.
Baudelaire once wrote, that mankind walks through
"forests of symbols" and sees the world
as a "forest of signs" to discover and understand
the universal in the individual, the invisible in
the visible. That is a nice thought in my perspective,
and it comes close to the idea behind this place.
If I was to add a final word, it would be a wish that
you will be inspired to portray your own reality,
wheter this is by words, images or the medium you
feel the most comfortable with.
